Individual 13-17

Adolescence is a time of intense change and self-discovery, filled with both exciting possibilities and challenging obstacles. Therapy provides a safe space for teens to explore their feelings, develop coping skills, and build resilience. It helps them navigate the complexities of identity, relationships, and academic pressures, fostering emotional well-being and personal growth. By addressing these issues early, we equip teens with tools to manage their mental health effectively and build a strong foundation for their future.

LIMITS TO CONFIDENTIALITY

First and foremost, you should know that I grant the same privilege of confidentiality to my teen clients as I do my adult clients. That means I won’t tell parents everything my client (the teen) and I talk about in our sessions. This protects my clients and enables us to build the level of trust that is needed for me to help them. I will absolutely tell parents if I think their teen is in danger of hurting themself or someone else. You, as their parent, absolutely have a right to know about any potential physical danger. Also, my license requires me to be a mandated reporter, which means if I suspect your teen may be a victim of child abuse, I do have a legal obligation to report it.
